When I was younger I always wanted to be a teacher, but when I went on work experience in a year 2 class I quickly realised it was not for me. Then to be honest I had no idea what I wanted to do, so just get through school and go from there. It got to the last few months of school and my mum and step dad were saying what are you going to do when you leave school, typical 16 year old ‘dunno’.
So we sat and talked and mum said she always wanted to be a hairdresser (she’s not but I do called her Vidal Sassoon when doing her hair, as she knows more ha), so I thought yeah give it ago. My step dad knew the owner of a salon group in Manchester (where I used to live) called Terrence Paul and got me an interview. Yay I got the job!! AND I loved it!!
How I am I in Brigg??? That will be my husband Ashley. Anyway nearly 15 years later here I am the owner of my own salon! So thats how I became a hairdresser!
I enjoy all aspect of hairdressing except hair ups! Over the years I have learned so much but as much as some days I could pull my hair out, running the salon is my passion. Helping my team get to where they want to be couldn’t make me happier!
The thing that drives me mad is not hair it’s and I’m very sure all my clients will be able to answer this without me even saying, is people taking my straighteners and brushes and not putting them back. This is a common things in our salon.
